Development Services
Responsibilities
The Development Services Department is responsible for overseeing the activities of the following divisions by providing administrative and leadership support:
- Planning
- Development Review
- Building Services
- Code Enforcement
In addition to work program development and administration, the Administrative staff represents the City:
- At community meetings
- Participates in various Regional, State, and Legislative committees
- Serves as liaison with Seminole County
- Serves as liaison with the School Board and other cities
City of Oviedo and Seminole County Business Tax Receipts (BTR)
In addition, Development Services processes the required City of Oviedo and Seminole County Business Tax Receipts for businesses located within the city limits of Oviedo.
Local Planning Agency
This board considers applications for comprehensive plan amendments, land development code amendments, zoning map amendments, deviations to land development code standards associated with the building permit applications, special exception use orders, preliminary subdivision plans, planned unit developments, master land use plans and development agreements.
Public Arts Board
The mission of the Public Arts Board is to prepare a public art policy in order to develop a distinctive sense of place, enhance public experience and exposure to culture through various forms of art, enhance the appearance of public facilities and places and improve the artistic and cultural environment of the City for its citizens.
Community Redevelopment Agency
The purpose of the Community Redevelopment Plan is to establish the redevelopment priorities for the Oviedo Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). The community planning process began in 2003 with the drafting of the Downtown Master Plan, the Strategic Economic Development Plan, the Delegation of Authority Resolution, and the Finding of Necessity (FON).
