2045 Adopted Comprehensive Plan
The City of Oviedo works year-round to provide a high quality of life to our community through accessible and sustainable services - and how Oviedo grows in the future will guarantee that our community remains the best place to live, work and play.
To ensure we grow in the right direction, the City has a holistic vision that includes studies, governing bodies (comprised of both elected and appointed officials), public input (through various public meetings and hearings), and other resources. Together, these components guide City staff and leaders as they make informed decisions that create sustainable growth for our community.
This web page provides an overview of the framework surrounding the City's vision for the future of Oviedo. For additional information, please visit these pages:
2045 Comprehensive Plan
Adopted June 20, 2022
History
A comprehensive plan establishes a community’s policies and priorities regarding future development while aiming to preserve the area's environmental features and community character. The comprehensive plan serves as a blueprint for future commercial and residential land uses housing, conservation, and cultural and recreational amenities. An important component of the comprehensive plan is identifying the new infrastructure and growth demands needed to support the community's future physical and economic development. Strategic investments made now in infrastructure, housing, and recreational amenities will help sustain a community where families will want to live, where companies will want to do business, where jobs will be available, and where people will come to work and play.
By Florida’s state law, the City of Oviedo's comprehensive plan shall have 9 mandatory elements:
- Future Land Use
- Traffic Circulation
- Housing
- Public Utilities such as Wastewater, Solid Waste, Drainage, and Natural Groundwater Aquifer Recharge, and Potable Water
- Conservation
- Recreation and Open Space
- Capital Improvements
- Intergovernmental Coordination
- Public Schools
Additional elements may also be considered in this Evaluation and Appraisal Report: Community Design, Redevelopment, Historic and Scenic Preservation, Economic Development, Water Supply/Conservation, Historic, and Scenic Preservation.
