1. Make sure the record IS maintained by the City of Oviedo

The City of Oviedo maintains documents recorded by the city. If your record is not maintained by the City of Oviedo, you will need to contact the city or county where the record is registered.

The City of Oviedo maintains the following records:

  • Fire department records
  • Permitting documents
  • Personnel files
  • Police reports
  • And more

Important: For marriage licenses, divorce certificates and death certificates in the State of Florida, please visit the Florida Department of Health.

2. Make Your Request

When making a request, be as specific as possible. For example:

  • Date ranges for the request - dates help to reduce broad search results over thousands of documents.
  • Keywords - search terms reduce the amount of time it takes to find your document.
  • Case number - when requesting records from the Oviedo Police Department.
  • Incident number - when requesting records from the Oviedo Fire Department.

Helpful tips:

  • Provide a valid email address when submitting your request.
  • If you prefer to remain anonymous, please include a contact method so we can notify you on the status of your request.

3. We Will Review Your Request

After submitting a request, expect the following within two business days:

  • A confirmation email with the assigned public records request number.
  • A notice of any fees to produce the records.

4. Pay For Your Document

If the information is available electronically, is not exempt from disclosure under the Public Records Laws and does not require extensive research time, it will be provided for no charge. However, the City charges $0.15 (single-sided, up to 11”x17”) per page for copies that are not available electronically. The actual cost of duplication will apply for copies larger than 11”x17”.
