SR 417 Road Widening Project
Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is widening Seminole Expressway/State Road (SR) 417 from four to eight lanes between Aloma Avenue/SR 426 and north of SR 434 in Seminole County. Benefits from this project include: • Increasing roadway longevity and resiliency by replacing five bridges and widening, and enhancing12 existing bridges. • Enhancing the movement of people, goods, and services by improving traffic flow with the addition of two lanes in each direction of Seminole Expressway • Strengthening pedestrian safety by providing underdeck lighting in all bridge spans, crossing roadways and pedestrian facilities • Improving roadside safety by replacing signage and pavement markings. • Resurfacing Aloma Avenue/SR 426, Red Bug Lake Road and SR 434 all under SR 417 bridge Construction will take place during daytime and nighttime hours. Nearby residents and businesses may experience periodic construction light, noise, vibration, and dust. The Enterprise takes steps to reduce construction impacts and efforts will be made to limit traffic and noise disruptions. Lane closures will generally take place during off-peak hours to minimize traffic congestion and delays for most drivers. Closures will be announced in advance in the Central and West Central Florida Weekly Lane Closures and Work Zone Advisory. Work is anticipated to be completed by late 2030. Cost and Funding The project cost is approximately $300 million.
