The 8U Division does keep score and will have playoffs if there are six teams or more.
10U, 12U, and 15U Co-Ed Divisions
These divisions will concentrate on the fundamental skills, while being more strict on the rules of the game. Playing time is guaranteed. Players will be evaluated at the player ratings day. Teams will be formed by City staff members and the League Coordinator based on the players ratings to ensure all teams are competitive and balanced. Awards will also be given to the league champions at the conclusion of the playoffs.
Game Days and Location
All games will be played on Saturdays at the Oviedo Gymnasium and Aquatics Facility. Games will start at 9:30am with the youngest age division first and continue throughout the day.
Practice Dates
Practices are offered Monday-Friday nights at the Oviedo Gymnasium and Aquatics Facility. Practice days and time depend on what the coach chooses. Once the teams are made players cannot be switched because the teams would not be balanced. We do not take any practice or coach requests.
Volunteer Coaches
We are always looking for volunteer coaches in all of our leagues. All volunteer coaches will recieve a 50% off any youth league voucher upon completing a season successfully! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer coach please contact us as soon as you can!
Players Ratings Day
The purpose of player ratings day is to rate the skills of each player in order to put together competitive and balanced teams. It is highly recommended that every player attend player ratings day so that the teams can be as balanced as possible. This is the main reason we do not take any practice or coach requests. It is too much to adhere to everyones request and still keep the teams balanced.
How it works: Players will go through a series of five or six drills and are rated on a scale of 1-5. Total scores are tallied and all players are sorted according to age and gender. Players are then placed onto the number of allotted teams according to their players rating score.
Why it's not perfect: Not all registered players attend players ratings day. The league has no idea the skill level of a player that did not attend. These players are given an average score and randomly placed on a team. This means the player could be an excellent player, but only rated as average or the opposite could happen, a beginner could get an average rating and they might not be as skilled. Also players could drop out before games begin and again the balance of the teams would be effected.
