9-11 Memorial

"Some Gave All - All Gave Some"

The City of Oviedo Fire Rescue Department has created a 9-11 Memorial honoring the sacrifice made by the Public Safety Personnel of the New York City Fire Department, New York City Police Department, New York Port Authority Officers and Private EMS Personnel. The 9-11 Memorial located at the Oviedo Fire Rescue Department Administration Building (1934 CR 419 West, behind Fire Station 3) was designed to memoralize the ultimate sacrifice made by so many emergency service personnel.

The 9-11 Foundation Inc., (www.911-foundation.org) (John Pedalino, Director) awarded the City of Oviedo Fire Rescue Department with a section of steel that was a component of the main structural members of the World Trade Center.  In order to qualify for the steel material, the Oviedo Fire Rescue Department was required to demonstrate how we would develop a memorial that would memoralize the sacrifice made by so many emergency service personnel on September 11th, 2001 a tragic day in our American history.

The Oviedo Fire Rescue Department 9-11 Memorial was desgined to remember the sacrifice made by the Firefighters, Police Officers, Port Authority Officers, and EMS Personnel, all whom rescued thousands of lives in the performance of their duties.  The memorial includes a section of steel from the World Trade Center, surrounded by a Firefighter and Police Officer embracing a memorial inscription describing the emergency service personnel lives lost on this tragic day.  The memorial is displayed inside a glass case for preservation.
